Karsan, Launches e-ATA Hydrogen in Germany!

Karsan, one of the leading companies in e-mobility solutions, started the hydrogen era at the IAA Transportation Fair in Hannover, Germany. Adding the hydrogen-fueled e-ATA hydrogen to its range of electric and autonomous products, Karsan takes electric mobility to another dimension. Embodying the vision of “One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility”, Karsan is pioneering another step towards sustainable transportation. At the global launch event of e-ATA hydrogen in Germany, Karsan CEO Okan Baş said, “We have once again embraced our pioneering role. Stepping into hydrogen fuel technology, we are ushering in a new era in public transportation. In the last 5 years, following the 6-meter e-JEST, 8-meter electric and autonomous e-ATAK and 10-12-18 meter e-ATA, we have now launched our hydrogen-powered 12-meter e-ATA vehicle. In this sense, we took another pioneering step in sustainable transportation expanded our product range. With our vision of “One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility”, we developed and introduced our future electric hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to the world.”

In addition to the IAA Transportation Fair in Hanover, Karsan participated in the Inno Trans Fair in Berlin on September 20-23 for a complete show of strength. Showcasing the 12-meter e-ATA at the InnoTrans Fair in Berlin, Karsan also introduced the newly launched e-ATA hydrogen model via a live link from the IAA Transportation Fair.

Karsan has added the hydrogen-fueled e-ATA hydrogen to its very successful range of electric and autonomous products. Ushering in the hydrogen era, Karsan presented its brand new model to the world on September 19 at the IAA Transportation Fair. Taking its place among the milestones of more than a half-centuryof history, the new model will transform the brand’s pioneering role in the mobility world of the future, building upon Karsan’s history of breakthroughs in electric public transportation. In addition, e-ATA hydrogen will be one of the steps that complete Karsan’s vision of “A Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility.”

“We are taking another step towards sustainable transportation”

Commenting on the global launch, Karsan CEO Okan Baş said, “As Karsan, we have once again embraced our pioneering role. In this sense, we acted as a pioneer again and took another step in sustainable transportation by expanding our product range. With our vision of “One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility”, we developed and introduced our future electric hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to the world. With more than 400 electric vehicles, we are on the roads all over Europe, especially in France, Romania, Portugal and Germany. And in the near future, we will grow even more in both European and North American markets with our Karsan electric vehicles.” “Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are yet a very new technology in public transportation. Currently in Europe, only 2 percent of the city bus market has adopted hydrogen technology. But just like battery electric vehicles for a sustainable future, hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles will grow in the public transportation market in the coming years. We estimate that by 2030, hydrogen vehicles will dominate 15% of the market and surpass 2000 vehicles per year. As Karsan, we aim to rapidly enter this market and pioneer the hydrogen transformation in urban transportation.”

Best in class with over 500 km range

The low-floor 12-meter e-ATA hydrogen can meet the needs of operators in many areas, from high range to high passenger carrying capacity. Equipped with an overhead 1560-liter lightweight composite hydrogen tank, the e-ATA hydrogen easily covers over 500 km of range under real conditions of use, that is, when the vehicle isfull of passengers and travels on stop-and-go line routes. With a range of over 500 km in hydrogen buses, e-ATA hydrogen provides the best range in its class. e-ATA hydrogen, which can readily carry over 95 passengers depending on the maximum permissible loaded weight and preferred optional features, also offers the best
passenger capacity in its class.

All-day performance with a single fill

e-ATA hydrogen uses a state-of-the-art 70 kW fuel cell. In addition, the 30 kWh capacity LTO battery with a long service life, which is positioned as an auxiliary power source in the vehicle, feeds more power to the electric motor in difficult road conditions and offers additional range for emergencies. e-ATA hydrogen can easily generate 250 kW of power and 22,000 Nm of torque with the high-performance ZF electric portal axle, which is also used in the latest members of the electric product range, e-ATA 10-12-18. The 12-meter e-ATA hydrogen, which can be fueled up with hydrogen in less than 7 minutes, can serve all day without any refills.

Technologies that make a difference in their class

The 12-meter e-ATA hydrogen has a 100% zero-emission air conditioning system with its environmentally friendly carbon dioxide AC. In addition, advanced driver assistance systems such as mirror camera technology, front collision warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, speed limit indicator detection and other
technological features can be included as options in e-ATA hydrogen.

e-ATA hydrogen offers drivers and passengers a safe travel experience thanks to its high-pressure resistant tanks, emergency gas release valves and high-sensitivity sensors which automatically shut down the system.

e-ATA 12 hydrogen’s completely low floor, flexible seating options, different door type options and a driver’s cockpit that complies with VDV regulations, the German public transportation standards, pulls it a step ahead of its competitors.
